Marvel Sets Iron Man 2 for 2010, Thor, Avengers Movie to Follow
Comic Book Movie News, Featured, Iron Man 2 (2010) Movie, The Avengers (2012) Movie, The First Avenger: Captain America (2011) Movie, Thor (2011) Movie — By Nix on May 5, 2008
To no one’s surprise, “Iron Man” cleaned up at the box office with a worldwide take of $200 million in its first week of release. With that in mind, it’s then no surprise that Marvel has already announced that “Iron Man 2″ will be coming our way very soon — as in, in 2010. Which probably means Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. will be climbing back into the suit very soon to meet the deadline. The question is, who is the villain for the sequel, and will Terrence Howard finally get to suit up as War Machine?
What’s more, Marvel has also announced that the “Thor” movie will be showing up in theaters at the same time as “Iron Man 2″, while the “Avengers” movie (with Favreau directing, one can only hope) will be popping up as early as 2011 — right after a “Captain America” movie?
Here’s The Hollywood Reporter with more news on Marvel’s 3-year slate:
“Thor” is slated for June 4, 2010. Marvel is also planting its feature film stakes for 2011 with an Avengers-themed summer.
The May 6 release of what is now going under the workimg title “The First Avenger: Captain America” will be followed by “The Avengers” in July.
So they ARE going through with a “Captain America” movie. At first glance, it was said that selling a movie about a man with the name “America” in it overseas would be a hardsell, but apparently Marvel doesn’t think so.
I am surprised, though, that they’re planning such a huge 2011 Summer — the Avengers movie itself is going to be huge, but add the Captain America one to it, and well, Marvel is looking like it could kick some serious tail come 2010 and beyond…
Update
USAToday has added specific release dates to some of the movies listed above:
Iron Man 2 – April 30, 2010.
Thor – June 4, 2010.
The First Avenger: Captain America – May 6, 2011.
The Avengers – July 2011.
Ant-Man – No Release Date.

Say’s who? Panty-wetting liberals?
There are a lot of people out there who love this country. To hell with the rest of ‘em.
http://www.bothinonetrench.com
hahaha you are awesome!!
WOW! Pany-wetting Liberals! “To hell with the Rest of ‘em” and yet we still can’t figure out why terroists want to kill us!!!???
I can’t wait til’ “money grubbing, oil sucking, war starting, religious preaching, republicans” are out of office….and with there track record….wars/recessions/freedom of speech impending/and lets not forget gay marriage banning…..they should be out for a Long Long time! BTW Thanks for 600 bucks Bush! Don’t let the door hit you on the way out!
money grubbing – Yes and Obama, Hillary, Edwards and every other liberal democrat in office is wondering where their next meal will come from.
oil sucking – Sorry but your car my car and every other car in this country and every other country relies on… OIL. Guess what Todd Macfarlane figurines are made of OIL. Guess what upstart industrialized societies such as China and India need… OIL! We would be happy to DRILL HERE DRILL NOW but those scum liberal enviromental case extremists wont let us.
war starting – JFK started Vietnam and last I checked there was a D in front of his name. On 9/11 we were attacked not vice versa. I know your job isnt as lofty as being charged with the protection of peoples lives but its easier to criticize that way isnt it?
religious preaching republicans – I must be a rare case but I dont feel any pressure to hit the bible and go to church from anybody. Plus ever since W got RE-ELECTED a few Dems found it quite hip to quote the bible and head into churches to get a few votes.
recessions – America was starting into a recession after Clinton raised taxes and the situation was aggravated by 9/11. Low and behold Bush drops taxes and sends out rebate checks and the economy booms. What we are going through now is because a lot of people who bought houses really shouldnt have. Govt didnt put a gun to their head and say “sign this mortgage or else”.
freedom of speech impending – Don Imus fired from MSNBC and WFAN because of something he said. Firing spearheaded by Al Sharpton Democrat Presidential Candidate 2004
Randy Rhodes, liberal pig suspended for her comments about Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro(clear case of liberals eating their own) I dont think a Republican had anything to do with that one either. Lets head back to the 80s. Who wanted lyrics put on albums for fear of bad language TIPPER GORE liberal Democrat. Who wants to shut down debate about global warming Al Gore Liberal Democrat.
lets not forget gay marriage banning – Yes lets not. Nothing I cant stand more than abnormal people trying to tell me what is normal. Whats next? Marrying your horse…. well maybe in Seattle. After that we can go for marrying your pet rock.
money grubbing – Yes and Obama Hillary Edwards and every other liberal democrat in office is wondering where their next meal will come from.
One, oil is only high in cost because of tree hugging democrats not letting USA to drill its own oil. Your a coward to say USA is warmongering. You wouldn’t last two minutes in another country they hate Americans and to say religious preaching, all TV shows talk bad about Christians and Jesus. I never see anyone say anything about Muhammad, I guess its alright to insult my god and the god that this country was built on. Now go sleep safely why people like me protect our country.
You are an idiot.
Hey I have a great idea, how about we send you to Afghanistan so that you can negotiate with the terrorists.
I wonder what they will do. Oh, I know slice your head off.
“Ray Robinsonr is the reason this country sucks!” on 7 May 2008:
But don’t question their patriotism!
Who says this country sucks?
Apparently only a “Panty-wetting Liberal” could write “freedom of speech impending” and think it actually means something… in English. Nicely done.
In closing, if you don’t want your economic stimulus check, I’d be happy to spend it for you. Sounds like you’re too busy spending your beloved welfare and disability checks.
See you at the movies.
Wow, you guys managed to kill this forum in four comments. Guess we know who hasn’t been seening some wet panties. AVENGERS 2011. BRING IT!!!
Well, hmm…let’s recap. First it’s quite apparent that liberals hate any mention of America, it’s also a shame that they are so self -loathing that they can’t even suspend their hatred of this country for a simple movie comment that has nothing to do with anything other than entertainment. I always thought movies were supposed to be an escape from reality so one could just “take a break” and relax from life’s stresses for a time.
Yet most “liberal” movie themes (once again) are filled with hatred for this country, portray any oposing view as ridiculous, and just love to prop up our true enemies and celebrate diversity by catering to the extremely offensive few in our country. Oh, and they just love the “bad guy” to win as well, so a superhero movie or just a plain hero movie really goes againt their screwed up views.
I thought this was a forum to comment on MOVIES, not politics. What the hell is the matter with you people?
I know, this was pretty funny. Whenever hardcore patriots demand the simple rights afforded them by the Bill Of Rights, we’re called “panty-wetting liberals”.
Apparently the American way, now, is to crawl under a rock and hope the dumbest politician we can find will protect us from the big, bad men while we convulsively cry into our oversized pillows.
What. The. Hell. Is this? As a political science major, an employee of the democratic party, and as a social worker, I have PLENTY to say about all of this BUT I shall leave it to the MOVIE IT’S SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT and say that I believe that these republicans are sorely misled..
An Ant Man movie? As in Ant Man in his own full length feature presentation? Boo. Great as one of many heros, but horribly uninteresting and just plain tacky on his own.
I am hoping that Thor doesn’t come off as utterly ridiculous either. I love the guy, but there are plenty of mystical and grandiose elements to the character and his ethereal brethren.
Captain America has a ton of potential to totally kick ass. Yes, America is not a very popular place abroad because when the Bush White House took over we suddenly became a very hostile nation and painted every other nation as a friend or a foe, black or white, if you’re not with us you’re against us, which is an attitude that does not at all suit a nation that is supposed to be the most powerful and set an example for democracy and diplomacy. That IS an issue. Regardless, Captain America is a very popular character and it should go over very well, especially in America.
I can only hope Iron Man 2 lives up to the expectations that 1 has set for it!
Crossing my fingers for Doctor Strange..
I just saw Batman 2 and I’m tired of Batman not killing bad guys. I really like batman, but Ironman would have blow Joker ass away. Its still a good movie though.
