Word is that Agent Coulson and the boys and lasses at SHIELD are a go at ABC. Which comes as no surprise to anyone, really. ABC is known primarily as a sitcom and crappy chick drama network, but even they understand the value of a Joss Whedon-led show post-“The Avengers”, right?
The official announcement was supposedly set for today, with marketing for the show set to begin on Sunday during the network’s fairy tale show “Once Upon a Time.” The show itself will probably premiere sometime this Summer or thereabouts.
Besides producing the Marvel TV show, Whedon also co-wrote the pilot along with his brother Jed and Jed’s wife Maurissa Tancharoen. All three will stay on as producers/showrunners, with the other two no doubt doing most of the heavy lifting since Joss Whedon has other fishes to fry in the Marvel Universe.
Among the cast, former “ER” and “Stargate Universe” alum Ming-Na co-stars with Clark Gregg as Agent Melinda May, “Killing Lincoln’s” Brett Dalton is gruff rising star Agent Grant Ward, Elizabeth Henstridge as science whiz Agent Gemma Simmons and Iain De Caestecker as tech guru Agent Leo Fitz, with Nashville’s Chloe Bennet set as Skye, a superhero-obsessed woman.
ABC also released this short, soundless 6-second tease of the Hulk smashing things before immediately pulling the video. Luckily this is the Interwebs, and once you put something online, it’s gonna stay online (via WorstPreviews):
