Mary-Louise Parker, star of Showtime’s “Weeds”, has joined Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds in the supernatural comic book horror/comedy/buddy cop flick “R.I.P.D.” Parker will be playing “the woman overseeing the division who explains to Reynolds’ character what has happened when he dies.”
“R.I.P.D.”, based on a comic book of the same name, will star Reynolds as a cop who is killed in the line of duty and finds himself being recruited by a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department fighting supernatural criminals. Bridges will plays his partner, who died a long time ago.
Kevin Bacon will play the film’s baddie, while Stephanie Szostak will play Reynolds’ living wife, who the dead cop hero makes contact with in order to collect evidence about his murder.
Robert Schwentke, who last directed the comic book actioner “Red” with Bruce Willis, will direct.
