Matt Damon is Done with the Bourne Franchise

Written by Nix | May 24th, 2007 | 2 Comments |

Matt Damon is sick of Jason Bourne, so he’s ditching the amnesiac spy for good — at least, after the third installment in the franchise hits theaters later this year. Damon, at Cannes to promote “Ocean’s 13″, said to the Daily Telegraph (via) about his other franchise, “The Bourne thing I’m definitely done with.” I can’t say as if I’m sad to see it happen, because I was never that big a fan of the series. Sure, it was well done, and I really liked Damon as a badass superspy, but you know, I’m a fan of Robert Ludlum’s original Bourne creation, and the liberties they took with the original novel (and don’t even get me started on the sequels, which had nothing to do with the novels at all) just sticks in my craw.

Anyways, don’t cry for Jason Bourne. Damon also mentions that, like the James Bond franchise, new actors could simply step in to replace him. Why not? They said you could never replace Sean Connery, either…

I think the Bourne’s are some of the best films I have ever seen. It would be brilliant if they made a fourth one. The ending of the ultimatium was cool and ended with a cliffhanger, so im hopin there will be another. Matt damons cool but heard he has had enough of Jason Bourne. I hope there will be another.
