Matt Damon thinks James Bond is a sad, sad little bitch, and he’d like to punch James Bond in the nutsack and maybe steal his wife and take his car for a spin. Okay, so maybe Matt Damon didn’t say it in exactly those words, but if I was a betting man, I would think Daniel Craig might not be looking too fondly on the star of “Stuck on You” and “Titan A.E.” after this interview Damon recently gave to his local town paper. In the interview, Damon freely expresses his disdain for James Bond and the franchise as a whole, mocking the previous two Bond movies as wannabes to his gritty, don’t stare at it too long or you’ll get seasick and throw up Bourne movies. Plus, he rambles on about politics and other topics no one gives a shit about when it comes out of the mouth of an actor.
Opines Matt Damon to the Miami Herald on the case against Bond:
”They could never make a James Bond movie like any of the Bourne films,” Damon says scornfully. “Because Bond is an imperialist, misogynist sociopath who goes around bedding women and swilling martinis and killing people. He’s repulsive.
“Steve [Soderbergh, who produced yet another of Damon's spy movies, Syriana] told me that years ago he was offered a Bond movie. He told them he’d do it if they gave him creative control. Absolutely not, they said. They have a formula, they stick to it, and it makes them a lot of money. They know what they’re doing, and they’re going to keep doing it.”
Damon also adds that he’s definitely planning on making a fourth Bourne movie, and that he would also like to make two more “The Good Shepherd” films in order to make it a trilogy the way “Bobby”, who starred and directed the movie, had envisioned it. The first one, yeah, I’m sure there will be money in it, but on two more “Good Shepherd” movies? Yeah, Matt, you and what audience?
