The sorta rebooting/pseudo sequel/(someone for the love of God tell me what’s going on with this movie) “Terminator: Genesis” has added former “Doctor Who” Matt Smith to its cast.
Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions say Smith will play “a new character with a strong connection to John Connor.”
Of course, you can take this two ways — if they’re referring to adult John Connor, than he could be a scientist who helps Connor send his soldiers back in time to help his mom and his younger self. Or if they’re referring to young John Connor, maybe he’s … oh, who the hell knows. Everything about “Terminator: Genesis” sounds like a big ball of mess to me. James Cameron is probably rolling over in his submarine right now.
Anyways, Smith will be joining a cast that already includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, reprising his Terminator role (I guess), with Jason Clarke and Emilia Clarke (no relation) playing son and mom. Jai Courtney as freedom fighter Kyle Reese, along with J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi and Byung Hun Lee.
Directed by “Thor: The Dark World’s” Alan Taylor, “Terminator: Genesis” reboots next year on July 1, 2015.
I still think it would be pretty badass if Byung Hun Lee played the new Terminator. Maybe make him a robot ninja or sumthin’…
