Maybe a Former Prison Break Star Will be Spartacus After All

As you’ll recall, when it became a sure thing that star Andy Whitfield would not and could not reprise his role as Spartacus in the second season of “Spartacus: Blood and Sand”, former “Prison Break” star Wentworth Miller expressed interest in taking over. That was met with a lot of negativity, as Miller isn’t nearly buff enough to pull off the role. But if not Miller, then how about Miller’s “Prison Break” co-star Dominic Purcell?

TVLine says they’ve received news that Purcell has screen tested for the role to replace Whitfield, though it’s unclear where he is in the pecking order of potential replacements. Liam McIntyre, who was the last man standing during the early rounds of replacement screen testing, is still the frontrunner, but word is, he has a lot of bulking up to do to carry off the Gladiator role.

Who will cry Spartacus when all the bodies fall? Stay tune!

Better than Wentworth that’s for sure. i could see it. I had him as my original pick for Kratos in a GoW film, but realized after rewatching “Blade:Trinity” he lacks the chops to front that movie as it’s gotta be epic in scope. But a TV show he’s already done. Now I’m not sure what he’s like as an actor now, but I’m sure he improved a bit with a couple more seasons of “Prison Break” under his belt. He has the size, and serious look, but he reminds me of a bald Crixus.

No real offense to Dominic but honestly I don’t think I could handle him as Spartacus. I’ve seen him in other things and I just don’t think he has the right personality to bring the passion and depth Andy did to that role.
