McG Will Direct Hasbro’s Quija for Universal

It’s a movie about that board game where people pretend spirits are talking to them and moving their hands, but really, they’re just bullshitting each other. Anyways, Hollywood is making a movie based on it. Yeah, well, they’re making a movie based on the “Battleship” game, too, so compared to that, this isn’t that big of a stretch.

The big news around the fake ghost camp is that “Terminator Salvation’s” McG is currently in negotiations to direct the Hasbro property for Universal Pictures, which is expected to take a more action-adventure-ish approach to the board game, eschewing its ghost-y origins. Which seems odd, but there you have it.

“Quija” has a November 12, 2012 release date, with production set to begin by this Summer.

Well we all remember the horror-y “Witchboard(1986)” from our youths, it will be interesting to see what new ideas this one can bring.
