well there are two directors in the running for this movie. the film is going to be $100 million and it will be more of a dark movie like all the superhero movies of the last 5 years. The moron who wrote the first film is not writing this one. Someone who has already has 4 successful movies prior to this feature wrote the script and is in the running to be director.

Billy Zane was also left intentionally out of the running for the movie. without a doubt it will be better than the 90's version. They barely made back their investment with the first film, so you know this one is already going to be better than the first because who would be so stupid to put their money into a flop unless some significant things have changed to make a better financial outcome.

Well, the Phantom has been around longer than Superman, Batman, or Spider-Man in one form or another, so I guess maybe a few people like him and the fact that he wears purple tights and fights crime in the jungle. The '96 film wasn't bad, but suffered from the same problems as "Dick Tracy" and "The Shadow," where the target audience really had no idea who he was. I imagine "The Spirit" ala Frank Miller, will suffer the same fate. Besides, it looks pretty crappy, too...
