Meet Jack Bauer 2.0: Slumdog Millionaire’s Anil Kapoor

Anil KapoorApparently his stint on the last season of Fox’s action-adventure show “24” has convinced “Slumdog Millionaire” actor Anil Kapoor that what India really needs right now is their own version of Jack Bauer to kick some terrorist ass. And he knows just who to cast in the role — himself.

Says Kapoor about the upcoming adaptation:

“The timing could not be better,” says Kapoor, noting that such topics as terrorism and upheaval are top-of-mind for Indian viewers. “It’s very, very relevant over here.”

And apparently it’s not just “24: India” that you have to look forward to. Nope. FOX is actually looking at branching out the franchise to other parts of the world, with different versions in Japan and the Middle East apparently in the talking stages. Frankly, the idea of a “24: Japan” is pretty intriguing, though I have no idea how a “24: Middle East” would actually work.

Howard Gordon, one of the guys behind the original “24”, will have some role in the Indian version.

Now the big question is: will Jack Bauer torture one dude for information one minute and start singing and dancing the next? That would be awesome.

Oh boy Anil Kapoor… I could imagine him in something like this if he had the same image as he did in his past movies.
But these days, isn’t he known for hamming it up in more comedic roles?
There’s plenty of other Indian actors that I can imagine playing Jack Bauer. The idea itself, of having such characters in other settings, is very interesting.

Reminds me of what Korea tried with the Shiri/Iris franchise
