Their Lord and King Peter Jackson may be still recuperating from his recent trip to the hospital, but (most of) the boys of “The Hobbit” have assembled in Wellington, New Zealand in preparation for the upcoming (and what is sure to be grueling) two-movie shoot, with principal photography officially scheduled for Monday March 21, 2011.

The film’s confirmed cast includes: Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Ken Stott, Graham McTavish, William Kircher, James Nesbitt, Stephen Hunter, Rob Kazinsky, Aidan Turner, Peter Hambleton, John Callen, Jed Brophy, Mark Hadlow, Adam Brown, Cate Blanchett, Andy Serkis, Mikael Persbrant, Sylvester McCoy and Elijah Wood.

Before the shoot, though, the film’s 13 dwarves and 1 hobbit turned out to meet the local press. Or, to be more specific, the actors who will be playing the two-parter’s 13 dwarves and 1 hobbit.

This should be awesome. I can’t wait for this movie to get started in filming, let alone be released, and with Jackson back at the helm it’ll be sure to be awesome. I just finished Return of The King off my Netflix app on the Logitech Revue with Google TV (I’m a DISH customer and employee) and when it was over decided to search out any news on The Hobbit, and ended up here. Super excited they got Ian Mckellan back, too.
