Meet the Face of Les Miserables in a New Poster

I don’t know anything about “Les Miserables”, which will be awesome when I finally get around to seeing the Tom Hooper version in theaters. Or at home. Depends on how I’m feeling that particular day, to be perfectly honest with you. The film opens December 25th, 2012, but until then, check out a new poster. And in case you missed it, a new extended first look featurette (above) was released last week, so be sure to check that out too, check it outers.

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, “Les Misérables” tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption–a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.

Starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne, Amanda Seyfried, Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham Carter, Aaron Tveit, Samantha Barks, and Isabelle Allen.

It misses the mark, I think. Cosette should be gazing past the viewer to something he can not see. That is her mystery. That’s what makes her haunting. The new poster isn’t haunting; it’s spooky. It’s like fingernails on a chalkboard.
