Michael Bay Shoots the Crap out of Transformers 3 in Chicago

Here’s a long 5-minute behind-the-scenes look at the shooting of Michael Bay’s “Transformers 3″ in Chicago released by the Chicago Business folks, featuring Michael Bay doing what he does best, which is shoot the crap out of his movies. Literally and figuratively speaking. It definitely looks like Chicago is going to be the film’s major Third Act location, and if the last two movies are any indication, Chicago is going to get royally totaled by the time the final credits roll.

Curiously, the video identifies supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as playing “Mikaela Banes”. I was under the impression that Whiteley wasn’t really replacing Megan Fox as the same character, but was playing a completely different character. IMDB.com also has her playing “Mikaela” as well. I would be very surprised if this ended up being true, because from all the set images I’ve seen, Whiteley doesn’t look or dressed like the “Mikaela Banes” character whatsoever. Remember, Fox’s Mikaela was supposed to be a hot-to-trot grease monkey, not some hot-to-trot supermodel in extremely short skirt and do-me heels. You can dirty up Whiteley all you want, but she’s still not going to pass for a “tough” girl.

Fox may be gone, but everyone else returns for part three, including Shia Labeouf, Josh Duhamel, and Tyrese Gibson. “Transformers 3″ is due out on July 1, 2010, just in time for July 4th fireworks.

Take a gander at the behind-the-scenes shooting of “Transformers 3″ in Chicago.

I was recently in Chicago and could not believe how rude people were treated as they walked by the filming area. It was almost laughable to watch these young people shouting out orders at people walking by, and no-one really listening. The company responsible for shooting this movie should be embarrassed at the way they treat the very people who keep them in business. As a surgeon who just happened to be walking by, and wanting to take a picture to send to my son, I was angered and amused at the young girl who was suggesting my intelligence was inferior because I could not understand what “click and keep moving” meant.
