Michael Bay to TMNT Fans Outraged at Alien Origins Plot: Chill, Bitches.

Michael BayOver the weekend Todd posted a video of movie director and explosions enthusiast Michael Bay stating matter-of-factly that the new origin for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the upcoming rebooted film will feature an alien origins story. Or, as he puts it, “These turtles will be from an alien race.” So yes, in the Michael Bay-produced TMNT, the turtles in a half shell will now be aliens from outer space. Say what?

That, predictably, has sparked plenty of fan outrage against Mister Awesome.

Not one to take fan outrage sitting down, especially since he has an official site of his own with which to reply, Bay finally got around to posting a comeback:

Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world.

I predict even more fan outrage over this response from the Bayster. Do with it what you will, kids.

By the way, Jonathan Liebesman of “Battle: Los Angeles” and the upcoming “Wrath of the Titans” will direct the reboot. And yes, the fact that Liebesman is directing probably means this is the most excited I am about a TMNT movie since Vanilla Ice showed up to do his turtle ninja rap. I love me some turtle ninja rap. Go, ninja, go, ninja, go, indeed, Mister Ice.

Unless it’s Kevin Eastman it will be crap. I still think they’re going with the Ooze being of alien origin, not toxic chemicals. In the original comics it was actually alien mutagen from the Utroms (of which Krang’s in the 80’s was one and actually Shredder was in the 2000’s series) that changed the turtles. Actually not sure if it even was mutagen or some other chemical,

Hahaha this makes me laugh. Its not like TMNT movies have ever been the way they were originally intended. If so they would be rated R and be more in the lines of Ninja Assassin.

Very true indeed. the 2000’s cartoon was I think the closest we’ll get to the original one and that was still watered down. I was shocked when the turtles actually got bruises and part of Leo’s shell was permanently damaged.

    I can’t wait for TANT!

Michael Bay burned me out completely with the sucky Transformers 3. I’m done with his work.

He didn’t say “bitches” at all. How about some more responsible journalism?

Journalism? That’s for news. This is for entertainment. We like to have fun with our information. Sheesh.

Here at BeyondHollywood.com, we don’t just tell you what celebrities are saying, we tell you what they’re REALLY thinking, too. That’s why we get the big bucks, buckaroo. (Yes, we are secretly mutants. Not turtle mutants, mind you.)

i think it will be fine, the mutant part tho important to the title really doesnt NEED to be used again. if you think about it having them already be aliens it already opens the door for more types of aliens to be available for use in the story, instead of having to have the obligatory and always boring as hell “origins story” which all comic movies follow. the tmnt comics had tons of aliens and space travel and at that point them being mutants was fourth or fifth place as far as importance to the story lines. as long as they look like ninja turtles and it has bad ass action with stuff blowing up all around me in glorious THX surround sound… job well done if you ask me.

If you’re just going to make them aliens and not use the mutant angle, you mind as well not make them TURTLES at all. Right?

      • X_p

no, but looking back at transformers as a whole its a pretty good series. even though he did bastardize lots of the things i held dear. but considering the limbo the tmnt franchise was in, michael bay taking it up as a project isnt entirely such a bad thing. its automatically a first class franchise now.

I can get behind that notion. I’m never against changes as long as it moves the story along. And you’re right about the mutant thing, after the Foot Clan it’d be what new mutated animal can we do now. The 80’s cartoon had that issue. Almost ALL of their eneimies were derived from mutation. Rocksteady and BeBop, Baxter Stockman, Leahterhead, Slash, The frogs, the lizards. I mean the list went on. At least in the 2000’s they got away from that and brought in the triceratons, utroms, etc.

hey mike, i hate say this to you but, YOU MAKE ME REALLY SICK!!!!! come on will ya!?!
Everyone knows that thise ninja turtle dudes are NOT ALIENS as you guys are doing in that
reboot but they were ‘born’ in the sewers as described in the comic and trhe cartoon.
I think you’re better off doing THE TRANFORMERS 4 than doing the TEENAGE MUTANT
NINJA TURTLES film. hey everyboy-STICK THE 90S VERSION ON DVD…RIIIIGHT!

  • Skhott55

I for one, am extremely enthusiastic over this idea! It would be plausible that our beloved Ninja Turtles would orgin from an alien planet, who knows? Never has this said notion been questioned in the past. Give it a solid go-ahead green light. Please take the time to revisit a viewing ‘Secret of the Ooze’ and listen to the dialogue of the scene where the turtles rescue the professor… may leave large answers to small questions..

ill reserve judgement till I see more.

“TEENAGE ALIEN NINJA TURTLES…..” err, no. It doesn’t sound right, there is no flow to the title anymore :( Bring back the Mutant story line, aliens have been literally DONE TO DEATH! Why not just call it Aliens in the Attic 2 and be done with it already…. (T_T) you are bum raping my childhood heroes *WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH* (T_T)
