Watching Michael Biehn beat the crap out of people never gets old. I honestly don’t care what the movie is about or why Michael is angry — as long as he’s breaking bones or exchanging gunfire with a swarm of nameless enemies, I’m a pretty happy guy. “The Blood Bond”, which Biehn wrote and directed, looks like every action movie the guy’s ever made, minus “Aliens”. Of course, there might be a horde of homicidal extraterrestrials buried somewhere in the picture’s storyline, though I seriously doubt it. One look at the synopsis pretty much rules them out.
Here’s the plot, courtesy of Far East Films:
In a war-torn Asian land, peace lies in the hands of the Bagwun, a revered religious leader. When he is wounded in an assassination attempt, his sworn protector, Deva (Phoenix Chou), sets out on a dangerous journey to find the one man who can provide the rare blood type needed to save her master’s life. The potential donor is John Tremayne (Biehn), an embittered former US Special Forces operative. Together, this unlikely pair must run the gauntlet laid down by rebel leader Lompoc (Simon Yam) and his aide Guang Di (Emma Pei).
“The Blood Bond” teaser lies below. Turn it up loud.
