Michael Caine Will Take a Journey to the Mysterious Island

Gotta love Michael Caine. That is, unless you’re an absolute moron, then you probably don’t love him, but you’re probably a moron if that’s the case, so whatever.

Anyways, word from THR is that Michael Caine is in final negotiations to join the cast of “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island”, the sequel to the Brendan Fraser movie “Journey to the Center of the Earth”.

Fraser has since jumped ship from the project (I guess he didn’t need the money, either that, or a total brain fart), and has been replaced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Johnson joins returning castmember Josh Hutcherson, essentially playing the franchise’s young lead.

The grandfatherly Caine will be playing Hutcherson’s grandfather, who goes missing and prompts the young lad to go in search of him, dragging his mom and her new boyfriend (Johnson) along on his adventure. Much fun is had by all, lessons are learned, and a new family is brought together. Or some such.

The sequel will be loosely based on Jules Verne’s “The Mysterious Island”, with Brad Peyton set to direct sometime in October.

Mysterious Island, meet Michael Caine's .45.
