I always did think that Michael Keaton could have made a pretty nice career for himself playing brooding killers if he hadn’t, you know, fallen into that whole movie star career first. Oh well, still not a bad career path if you can get it. In his latest, “Penthouse North”, Keaton will be putting on his bad guy face once again, with “Source Code’s” Michelle Monaghan playing the target of his bad guy intentions. The duo will be starring in the thriller “Penthouse North” for Dimension Films and director Joseph Ruben (“The Forgotten”).
Sara Taylor (Monaghan), a photojournalist blinded in Iraq, is forced to play a deadly game of cat and mouse with the sadistic criminal Hollander (Keaton) – a man who will stop at nothing to get a fortune of stolen diamonds hidden in Sara’s penthouse apartment. Although Sara claims to not know where the diamonds are, Hollander utilizes psychological and physical torture in an effort to break Sara’s resistance. But Sara fights back. As the suspense builds to a shattering climax, Sara gains the advantage. But will it be enough to save her?
Ruben will direct from a script by David Loughery (“Lakeview Terrance” and the upcoming “Nurse 3D”).
The press release notes that shooting begins in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on December 7th, but neglects to list any other castmembers besides Keaton and Monaghan. Which leads me to believe this is one of those “two people on a stage” type films, that while there might be more characters, the bulk of the film will feature just Keaton and Monaghan’s.
