Michael Rooker’s Yondu Arrives in Two New Guardians of the Galaxy Images

If you saw the recently released new trailer for James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy,” then you probably saw a snippet of Michael Rooker as the blue-skinned Yondu. He shows up almost at the end of the trailer. Well here’s a better look at him via USAToday.

Here’s that trailer in case you missed it:

So how does Yondu relate to Chris Pratt’s Peter Quinn aka Star Lord?

Yondu raises Peter alongside the Ravagers, an outer-space biker gang of sorts usually up to no good, and as an adult, Peter schemes with Yondu to steal a mystical and powerful orb.

But Peter grabs it and goes off on his own, which leads to Yondu and the Ravagers chasing him and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy as the misfit heroes also try to keep the orb out of the mitts of space villain Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace).

Yondu has “some interesting issues — not a good guy, not a bad guy. There’s hope and there’s a heart inside Yondu,” Rooker says.

And here’s Rooker as Yondu. The gangly looking guy next to him is Sean Gunn, the brother of the film’s director James Gunn.

The guardians of the galaxy do some protecting this August 1st.

First time we get a good look at Yondu’s Mohawk. Looks more like a horn or implant which I like.

I hope all of the aliens in this movie don’t just look like a bunch of different colored humans…. That’s what it’s starting to look like….

I think they’re starting off slow. Kree, and more humanoid aliens, and then bringing in some of the crazier ones. I’m sure (like Star Wars) we’ll see them in the background.
