Relativity Media’s “War of the Gods” (aka “Dawn of War” according to IMDB.com) has landed its villain in Mickey Rourke, who will be trading in his “Iron Man 2” whiplashes for a crown of evil in the Tarsem Singh-directed Greek mythology movie. “Gods” will pit human saviors Henry Cavill and Freida Pinto against those meanie Greek Gods, with the fate of humankind in the balance. Rourke will play King Hyperin in the film, which is set to start production in April.
I’m probably in the minority, but there’s a chance Singh’s movie will be superior to the similarly themed “Clash of the Titans” remake. Not only is Singh a much more polished and visually stunning director than “Clash’s” Louis Leterrier, but it won’t be coming into theaters with all the hype and expectations of the other movie.
Plus, it’s got Freida Pinto (below), so there’s that.
