Mighty Boosh Movie In The Works

Mighty Boosh Movie — By CortneyZamm on October 27, 2009

If you’ve ever watched the oh-so popular “Old Greg” YouTube video that’s been floating around for ages, then you’ve heard of The Mighty Boosh. If you haven’t, they’re a British sketch comedy group that started off on the stage and radio, but now have their own show on BBC 3, like a modern-day Monty Python. Now, according to IWatchStuff.com, they’ve got a movie in the works.

Mighty Boosh member Julian Barrat said of the film, “We try to do on TV quite magical epic journeys, and we thought if you’re doing a film we should really do it in one room, basically just kind of a sitcom, for 90 minutes. So we might do that. We might do exactly what we didn’t do on TV.”

Looks like this project’s been in development for awhile, but if the Arrested Development movie is anything to go by, sometimes these things just take time. Especially movies based on interestingly weird but hilarious tv shows. The show’s storytelling style should translate well to the screen, but it’ll be interesting to see how audiences outside of the UK respond to the humor.

BBC Films looks to be attached to the project, and the film is due sometime in 2010. In the meantime, check out YouTube for “Old Greg” and some of their other sketches. They’re pretty funny, especially if you like fishing or Bailey’s Irish Cream.
