Mike Myers to Host 2008 MTV Movie Awards

Canuck funnyman Mike Myers (pictured, left) has landed the gig to host the 2008 MTV Movie Awards, Myers’ second go-around at the mostly pointless awards show. It used to be that no one showed up at the MTV Movie Awards unless the producers had told them they had already won beforehand, but not so much nowadays. The Awards show has become a social event, and you now came anyway, even if you weren’t guaranteed a Moonman, or whatever it is they give away at these things. No doubt Myers return from obscurity is to coincide with his “The Love Guru”, his first actual movie role (not counting animation) since 2003’s “The Cat in the Hat”.

Yahoo! News says the Awards show will air live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California on June 1st, 2008. Categories to look forward to include Best Kiss, Best Dance, Best Lowrider Shorts, Best George Lopez Moments, and of course, everyone’s favorite, Best Idiotic MTV Movie Awards Category. Oh wait, nevermind the last part. And the one before that, and the one before that…
