According to the folks over at IESB, J.J. Abrams has found his young James T. Kirk, and it’s some chap name Mike Vogel. Who the hell is Mike Vogel? I don’t know, and that seems to be the point. Abrams has been casting mostly unknowns for the younger versions of the Trek cast, and picking a guy whose biggest role to date was as spam in the recent “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” remake would fit right in. And of course, this is coming from IESB, and those guys haven’t been wrong on ANYTHING yet, as far as I know. Plus, Vogel has already done an Abrams project: he can be seen in Abrams’ “Cloverfield/1-18-08” monster movie.
After months of speculation, industry chatter is indicating that JJ Abrams has found a front runner for his new James T. Kirk.
We have been hearing his name for weeks but in the last couple of days the rumor has picked up steam with tips from several inside sources. The IESB has been told that 28-year-old Pennsylvania native Mike Vogel (Poseidon, Texas Chainsaw Massacre) is the front runner to play James T. Kirk in the 11th Star Trek film.
So there you go. If IESB says it’s true, then it’s probably 99.999% true. These guys never miss. I would kill to have their sources…
Meanwhile, “Stargate: Atlantis'” Paul McGillion has revealed that he recently tested for the role of Young Scotty. Which is fine for him, but at 38, McGillion ain’t “young” anything.
