Well, this is going to make a lot of people happy. Georges St-Pierre is a pretty popular UFC fighter, and according to Latino-Review, he’s landed himself a major role in Marvel’s upcoming “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”.
According to LR, St-Pierre will play a villain name Batroc the Leaper.
Batroc who? Glad you asked. Here’s a little bit more about him:
Batroc has no superhuman abilities, but is in peak physical condition in every respect. He is an Olympic-level weightlifter and has extraordinary agility and reflexes. His leg muscles are particularly well-developed which enables him to leap great distances with the strength of an Olympic athlete. He is an expert hand-to-hand combatant and specializes in savate (French-style kickboxing). He is also a skilled military tactician, having formerly been in the French Foreign Legion.
I don’t know how having “well-developed” leg muscles allows you to “leap great distances” (what, like the Hulk?), but that’s comic books for ya, I guess.
No word on how big the role is. Will it just be one of those, “Hey, look, it’s Batroc the Leaper in the background!” or a major, “Hey, look, Batroc is totally drop kicking Cap’n in the face!” type of roles. I guess we’ll find out when “The Winter Soldier” reports for duty next year April 4, 2014.
LR also added that Robert Redford’s character will be named “Pierce” in the movie, who is “a high ranking government official”, although previous reports had him being a SHIELD big shot.
That’s Batroc in the purple get-up below (he is French, after all):
