Molina, Kingsley Join Prince of Persia

Jerry Bruckheimer’s “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” rolls on, this time announcing the casting of Alfred Molina (pictured, left) and Ben Kingsley. The two venerable actors will be joining a cast that already includes leads Jake Gyllenhaal (pictured, below) as the Prince, and Gemma Atherton as, presumably, his love interest. And while neither leads look anything but Persian — well, it’s Hollywood, you gotta just go with it, or don’t go see it.

Variety says that Molina (”Spider-Man 2″) will be playing a character name Sheik Amar, who becomes a mentor to the prince. No word on what character Kingsley will play.

A little about the plot:

Based on the video game, which follows an adventurous prince who teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world.

So my guess is that Atherton will play said “rival princess”, whose name is Tamina according to IMDB.com.

Shooting is scheduled to begin in July in the U.K. and Morocco with Mike Newell (”Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”) directing.

okay in this picture Jake looks like he’s trying really hard. His body is too thick to make Middle Eadstern snake-like moves. I’ve said that before, we need someone thinner, taller, YOUNGER for goodness sake and more Middle Eastern looking. Don’t tell me “it’s hollywood”, that’s NOT an excuse at all. Why did they pick REAL Russians for Indiana Jones movie then? Huh? I could bring more examples, but what’s the point, the choice’s been made…
