Moonlight the Movie? Producer Says it’s Possible.
Horror Movie News, Moonlight TV Series, TV News — By Nix on July 1, 2009
I never got into CBS’ Moonlight, their sorta supernatural cop show where the good guy (played by Alex O’Loughlin) was a vampire who solved cases involving vampires and the like. The gorgeous Sophia Myles played a Lois Lane type who starts to figure out the P.I. might be more than he’s letting on. The show got canceled after one season, but according to producer Harry Werksman, that doesn’t mean the show needs to end right there.
Werksman gave hope for the show’s legion of fans by telling SciFiWire this:
“Well, we were setting up in the end of our first season that there was a coming war. There was the family from which Coraline came, and it was a royal bloodline of vampires that Mick had been brought into, very much unwanted on his part. I think what we were going to try and do is to have the movie encapsulate the entire second season of the coming war.
“I know I talked to [the show's star Alex O'Loughlin] just a couple weeks ago, after Three Rivers got picked up, and I was congratulating him,. He’s like, ‘When are we going to do the movie?’ I said, ‘I don’t know, man. Any time you’re ready.’”
So the producer and the star wants to do it. A made-for-TV movie, perhaps? Or a feature-length film? With the current vampire craze, I don’t see why a movie version wouldn’t work. And if all else fails, they can always go the comic book route like Joss Whedon did with his Buffy and Angel properties. I’ve read the Angel comic series, and they’re actually very good.
Below: “Okay, guys, cool pose off in one, two, three!”

I am very excited to read about Moonlight. I have read four very bad reviews online about Three Rivers. From what I read from the people reviewing it, they all predict in their own opinion that it will be the first show of the new season to get canceled. I am sorry for Alex, but maybe that will clear the way for a Moonlight to be in a movie form and or a return of the series. Moonlight was a great show and it is sadly missed. Please go to tvsquad.com and look for the poll for voting for your favorite vampire or vampie show (I can’t remember which)and vote for Moonlight. You can only vote once a day, so please get out there and vote. Moonlight is way in the lead so far.
MOONLIGHT is ment for the BIG screen!
If you loved MOONLIGHT–Please write to Joel Silver and Warner Brothers and ask them for a MOONLIGHT MOVIE they have the rights to the show—If we all do this we can make MOONLIGHT rise again–remember the Star Trek fans never gave up and we have it still around 40 years later! The fans made that happen! WE CAN BRING BACK MOONLIGHT TOO!
I’m ready for the movie & hope it will begin production soon…
What was left out in this interview is that Moonlight’s leading male star was first approached by the TV series executive producer, Joel Silver, in mid-December, 2008 about making such a movie of ML. Joel called Alex O’Loughlin via phone & asked the young actor if he was ready to make the ML movie… Alex’s reply was, “Yeah, sure, when?”…
So if Silver gets it going I feel strongly that we can, indeed, get that Moonlight movie… and I know this movie will knock the socks of any vampire genre fan, so move over Twilight!!!!!!
PS: and yes, write P.O mailed letters to Joel Silver & Warner Bros as WB owns all of the Rights to Moonlight…

I would love to see a Moonlight Movie. I’d bring all my friends that I’ve shared the DVD with. I’ll bring the husband, the kids, I’ll go multiple times! Great idea! It needs to be quality though. Don’t want to tarnish Mick’s image!!!
So Martha begin writing letters; if the Pwerful People do not hear from fans than how will they know we truly want this to come about asap…
As far as tarnishing Mick’s image…I do not think Alex would turn Mick from pure gold into tin… Neither do I feel that Joel Silver would give fans a ML movie that would not make us all happy….including the TV cast, but in all letters written please request that our cast all return for a ML movie…also write to their respective agents…for Alex I would only write to his main agent in Australian… Linston & Morris in Sydney, NSW, AU…his agent is Nathan Morris, as it was before when Nathan worked for the June Caan Agency, but took it over along with a partner after the demise of both June & her son, John…
I was excited to SEE when they released the DVD for “MOONLIGHT” in January and rushed out to Best Buy (cause it had already sold out @ Walmart, K Mart , Etc.)I will be ecstatic to go SEE the movie when it comes out. You notice I said “when” it comes out not “If”. I know the talents from the series are worth waiting for…each and everyone put so much of themselves into their characters, it was just an AWESOME series….even the directing, designing, the lighting the whole production was AMAZING…..:)
I saw the preview for Joel Silvers new film coming out soon called SHERLOCK HOLMES–and it blew me right out of my cinema seat! All I could think about was HOLY COW–THIS COULD BE OUR MOONLIGHT!
Joel Silver KNOW how to rock a movie!
Listen people, MOONLIGHT was Joels baby from the beginning–what we got was what he envisioned! No doubt in my mind that THIS MAN WILL DO IT RIGHT!
And of course I’m sure he plans on not only Alex being in it, but Sophia Myles, and Jason Dohring too! Also hope that David “Logan” Blue can be in it, he was a great comic touch! Mention all the actors when you write! I always do!
I would be first in line at the movies should a ML movie comes out! Just want to see my Mick
