Ultimates Hawkeye Comic

You’ve no doubt already seen what Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye in Marvel’s upcoming superhero team-up “The Avengers” is supposed to look like via those official artwork for the movie, but I do believe this is the first time we actually see Renner in the superhero get-up on set. And yes, it appears they’re going the Ultimates Hawkeye route here, though thankfully it’s before he traded in his bow for guns. So yes, it goes without saying –

POTENTIAL SPOILERS BELOW

These new round of pics are from New York City, and features Chris Evans in his brand-spanking new Captain America costume, running alongside Scarlett Johansson in her familiar Black Widow costume, and the aforementioned Renner as Hawkeye.

Joss Whedon’s “Avengers” stars Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Clark Gregg, and Cobie Smulders. The assemblage begins May 4, 2012.

Hawkeye and Black Widow look pretty cool, but wow Captain America looks awful…. His whole thing is that he’s super strong, but he looks like he lost all his muscle in these photos…

Actually not superhuman, peak human. As strong as a human could possibly be before superstrength. He’s basically Batman via serum instead of working out.

Hawkeye looks spot on from his original Ultimates look. Scarlet as always fills the.suit out nice. Cap looks good. Personally I think he’d look a little crazy had he still been as huge as he was in First Avenger with that current suit. He would look like he’s bursting out.

I agree about Hawkeye and Black Widow. I have to disagree about Cap though. I would have much prefered Evans kept his larger stature for this one. He does look a bit scrawny. It may be the suit not showing his actual body. I don’t know. I’m still waiting for a pic of Cap with the ears exposed.

I completely get what you’re saying about Cap, he does look skin, but I also think that like Bale’s Batman, slimming down will slow for easier and more movement. He couldn’t be that big and as agile as Cap is supposed to be. Also there’s no padding or airbrushed muscletone like all other com characters that wore actual spandex (Spiderman, Superman Returns, Amazing Spiderman, etc) and that makes a nog difference. Sent on the go!

Well, that argument is logical but may be a bit innacurate. Rogers underwent the Super Soldier program which makes him perform at peak human levels. I would agree with you completely if the effects that he incurred did just that. However, even with a healthy dose of suspended disbelief some of the things that he was doing in CATFA were way too spectacular to be attributed to just “peak human level”. One could argue that he was in super human territory. That being said his weight wouldn’t hinder his abilities. As far as the suit I agree. The lack of detail on his physique definately has a lot to do with the overall look. Hopefully, they’ll make him look a lot larger in post production with some good ol’ fashioned camera angles and some good CGI.

i think it’s the loose pants that make Capt. America look a bit odd. They are flapping like parachute pants.

I never read the Ultimates line of these guys, but just from a lay mans point of view, Hawkeye’s bow could look a bit more substantial. I think i got a compound bow like that for christmas when I was 10 years old.

He was most definitely doing superhuman things, but again like Iron Man, and parts of Thor, this universe seems to mix the mainstream 616 and the Ultimate universes, and Ult. Cap has super strength. And I hope they don’t mess with the look with cgi to make him bigger that’d look bad. I’m gonna stick with smaller for agility sake. Lol.

I hear what you’re saying Dedpool, but I think you’re defending this movie despite itself. Something tells me that if we were looking at pics of a filled-out and ripped Evans (ala CATFA) that you wouldn’t be saying a peep about him looking clunky or un-agile.

While I’m the biggest proponent to keeping things in context, from these photos alone I’m more than a little under whelmed by Caps look – and I totally agree the bow in these pics looking like a summer camp special in lieu of Olympic or a hunters bow.

I’ve said it before – it baffles me how Marvel seems to be ignoring the Ultimate influences with Cap. I would have loved to see a kevlar body suit (with muscle pads… who cares!) with a chin strap than this. Just my opinion.

          • http://www.originalgeekspodcast.com/ Dedpool

Dude I gotta have hope and keep positive. I’ve been pretty happy so far. I agree a more Ultimate inspired suit would’ve rocked. But then again for all we know that spade could be some lightweight kevlar weave or something, but they didn’t want Cap leathery looking like Hawkeye, Widow, and Fury. And no I wouldn’t be saying he looked bad, unless I saw footage and he moved like Arnold in Conan, lol. But again I really think its the lack of detail and definition on the costume that makes it look so Meh.

    There’s just something so…off about Cap’s suit. >_<

  • Paphinfan

I have a feeling Cap will look awesome in the movie. Although these photos are not very encouraging. I trust Weldon will make the leader of the avengers very believable.

Tell me that cap outfit didn’t happen….please. (o_o)

What’s up with Hawkeye’s mask? If you gonna play a character you gots to honor him or her the right way. Cap don’t look to comfortable rocking that suit, body language don’t lie. Oh well is times like these that make me proud of being a Dark Knight Fan!
