More Chun Li. More Street Fighter. Maybe Not so Much More Legend.
Movie Images, Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li (2009) Movie — By Nix on January 19, 2009
People are telling me that from what they’ve seen so far of “Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li”, this thing has all the makings of yet another bad movie based on a videogame. Or as it’s known around the Interwebs, “Dude, check it out, Street Fighter just got Uwe Bolled!” I think it could be good. As in, it couldn’t be as bad as the Jean-Claude Van Damme version, could it? Plus, former cinematographer turned director Andrzej Bartkowiak is not an entirely awful director, and he’s delivered some nice action pics in the past, including “Romeo Must Die”, “Doom”, “Exit Wounds”, and “Cradle 2 the Grave”. Okay, so, maybe not the best examples of quality action movies, but you know, he’s not Uwe Boll, so there’s that, at least.
Based on the popular video game franchise, this reboot will focus on female fighter Chun Li (played by Kristin Kreuk), as she embarks on a quest for justice by taking on various characters from the game, including Vega, M. Bison (Neal McDonough), and Balrog (Michael Clarke Duncan).
Starring Kristin Kreuk from Smallville as Chun Li and Neal McDonough as M. Bison, the baddie. Moon Bloodgood plays a cop, and Michael Clarke Duncan is a bazooka-packing Balrog.

cool pics, i see her as chun li, i love the way they made this more modern and believable, could be better if they kept bisons color sceme though, i dont mind him wearing a suit, its better actually, but i would have prefered it colored red. removing the shoulder pads, boots, cap etc. was a good thing, it would have looked ridiculous in real life.
Worst movie ever.
They can’t even bring an actual asian to play this part(I know she’s half asian half not), but she doesn’t even look asian. And Chun Li is asian. I hate Hollywood hype, plus the videogame is not even worth making into a movie. Is Hollywood really that desperate?
What are you talking about! If you had a super nintendo Then you had to have Street fighter. Though I do agree with you that any past show or video game that held a place in any kids heart is now being made into a movie.. though there have been some good ones I hope thay continue to use directors who care about what they make.
How’d that little white girl get a name like Chun-Li?
Give her a little credit– she’s half-Asian.
The question is, would you have guessed it if you didnt know.
The answer is no.
This girl is not chun li. This movie makes as much sense as Superman being black.
half isn’t good enough.
Would you like to do it with a female centaur? She’d at least me HALF human…
Oh to the haters – go hate elsewhere.
Until it’s out – save ya judgement.
does anyone else noticed that the last picture was totally photoshoped? Her face on another person’s body.
What you guys seem to forget between your hate is that this chun li version is the one before she even meet with Ryu, Ken and many of the others in the games. It’s her ORIGIN! I agree that a full asian woman might have feet better lookwise but if you check chun lis looks exactly you will see that she doesn’t look THAT chinese herself either so it’s a ok match after all. I will give the movie a try to see how it turned out in the hope that it will be good to at least ok.
I just hope that the director didn’t messed up the scripts though so we can see some good stuff instead of crappy action. :/
Stop hating before you even watched! -.-
yeah there’s no way it can be as bad as the first street fighter movie. and also yes that last one does look very photoshopped. haha. i can see some repeating textures around her head…anyway, i’m not expecting much from this movie but i’m definitely going to see it. i want to see another street fighter with ryu and ken and other peoples..

Except all of those movies are indeed horrible.
Boll is not the monopoly on unwatchable formulaic crap coming out of hollywood.
Bolls bar is so low that just “not being uwe boll” can’t be used as any kind of praise.
Thats like saying that charles manson didn’t kill as many people as henry lee lucas so he’d make a better baby sitter.
she does look chinese, and what are u talking about in the game or the movie, movie doesn’t look chinese but the character is. They should have used a full asian and hollywood is kind of racist which I don’t like.
Overall the movie was not the greatest.
