Interesting how it appears they are incorporating the mother character in the film as a major part of the story considering she was barely touched on in the book. But I’m not terribly surprised. Also, If I’m not mistaken the little boy was around 6-7 years of age in the story but he looks to be about 10-11 in the film. One reason I was so intrigued by the story is because the child was the same age as my son and it really drew me in.

Plankton could create enough oxygen, I think. Good idea about the plants though. Maybe it goes to show that perhaps the whole world is not gone and maybe the father and son just think it is.

I hope Viggo does not make the father figure too tough. The father in the book is strong in that he is so gentle and understanding with his son. I also hope they capture the intelligence of the boy. He is definatly mature beyond his years. Great book and I can’t wait for the movie!

Don’t worry, they still have the shopping cart. I believe this photo is from the beach scene in which they are using a wheelbarrow to traverse the sands. I guess the director decided to change the wheelbarrow into a donkey cart.

Just finished the book. I dont think the movie will even be able to make you fell the way the book did. Also thinking outside the box… without plants theres no oxygen… people would sufficate … it has been 10 years there should deffinetly be no oxygen… Loved the Book

The kid is 10 at the beginning of the book. There’s a flashback in the book to the day when the kid was born and things were getting blown up outside the windows. Elsewhere in the book, the father says things have been the way they are for 10 years. I figure the boy’s about 11 by the time the book ends.

Great book and looks like it’s going to be a great movie also! I have always loved stories of “the end of the world”. I feel that the book did captured how people would react in this scenario. Hopefully the movie will too!

I have read the book three times and never tire of it. The power of hope, love, remembrance, and courage has never been clearer — each page resonates with the mantra of never giving up. The reality of what the father and son faced both fascinated and horrified me. Read the book …I hope the movie is true to the written word.

Oh wow I wonder why they changed it from shopping cart to donkey cart? Shopping cart was more current, made them look like homeless people, is more ugly, and it makes more sense that they would have it because they’re all over the country. What silly reason did they have to change it? They couldn’t figure out how to record the voices over the sound of it? Amateurs! This is a great novel, why go mucking it up and cause people to remember it as a bad action movie??

I already read the book for high school! I can’t wait to see it..hopefully it’ll open people’s eyes..its WILL get disturbing at times
