More Proof Keanu Reeves is Actually Made of Plastic?

Comic Book Movie News, Plastic Man (2009) Movie — By Nix on July 15, 2008 Share/Bookmark

You know, I always suspected that Keanu Reeves couldn’t actually be a human being. After all, a guy who is always that stiff, with the personality of driftwood, couldn’t possibly be made of flesh and blood, could he? Maybe the Wachowski Brothers know something I don’t, which may be why they’re trying to get Keanu “Dude!” Reeves to play the lead in a proposed “Plastic Man” movie. Uber producer Joel Silver, who has had his hands in everything the brothers Wachowski have done, is sure talking that way, even though they’re not actually talking that way.

CHUD has the news, but unfortunately their site is down at the moment, so I’ll have to go with Joblo.com as the source on this one:

According to CHUD, Silver told a German radio station (he’s over there with that NINJA ASSASSIN movie) that he and the Wachowskis are looking for a holiday 2009 release for PLASTIC and that they’re talking to Keanu Reeves about starring. It’s interesting news but unfortunately CHUD wasn’t able to dig up much in their fact checking other than no comments.

Remember when the Wachowski Brothers used to mean instant CHA-CHING! at the box office. Then there was “The Invasion” with Nicole Kidman, which they were supposedly brought in to “fix”, and the disaster that was “Speed Racer”. Now they better hope “Ninja Assassin” does really well, or people are going to look at them strangely when they bring up another high-budget project they want to do. (Well, stranger than usual, anyway. Isn’t one of the brothers no longer a brotha…?)

Keanu Reeves, meanwhile, is currently playing a stoic, android-like alien in a remake of “The Day the Earth Stood Still”. Wow, someone finally figured out that the best way to force Keanu to “act” was to make him act like a barely-human alien. Genius!

  • Bodhi Grrl! says:

Too bad this project didn’t happen 20 years ago. Wouldn’t Bruce Campbell have been perfect? They even look a like (Think Bubba Ho-Tep.)

  • Well, Reeves is not my first choice, but he might surprise us all. And “Speed Racer” wasn’t that bad of a movie! Sure, it failed at the box office, but it’s not like WB is hurting for money (especially after this week…).
