More Returnees for The Descent 2
Horror Movie News, The Descent 2 (2009) Movie — By Nix on May 1, 2008
I haven’t seen Neil Marshall’s “The Descent”, even though I’ve always meant to. I actually have the DVD on my shelf, but everytime I think I should watch it, another, more recent movie always interrupts. Oh well. In any case, from people whose opinion I respect, the first “Descent” was apparently a rollicking bloody good time, and the sequel, minus Marshall behind the camera (he’s apparently “producing”, which could mean he’s there everyday, or never there for a single day), couldn’t possibly be as good, could it?
In any case, Bloody-Disgusting reports that both Shauna MacDonald and Natalie Jackson Mendoza, who plays Sarah and Juno in the original, respectively, will be returning for the sequel.
Picking up from where the last movie left off, Sarah (Shauna Macdonald) escapes the cave and seeks refuge at a local gas station, where she collapses and is rushed to a local hospital. Not being able to speak because of the horrific events that have mentally scarred her, a search and rescue team take Sarah back to where the horrible events happened to find any possible answers and survivors. However, whilst down in the cave…things don’t go to plan as the group fight for their lives against the crawlers and find an unexpected survivor from the last film.
Good? Bad? You decide.
Update
The Hollywood Reporter adds Gavan O’Herlihy, Joshua Dallas, Anna Skellern, Douglas Hodge and Krysten Cummings to the cast. The script is by James Watkins and the budget is $10 million.

I saw the Descent. I liked the movie quite a bit.
When I heard about the sequel, I was like “really?” For those who’ve seen it, I think there is definitely a sense that the story had reached a memorable and semi-definitive conclusion.
Why would she go back? She **knows** there are no survivors. Did she forget her car keys?
I think it’s telling that Neil Marshall **passed** on returning to helm this “sequel” Cough*cashgrab*cough!
Of course he went on to do Doomsday, which I thought looked horrible.
So who knows?
But that’s just me.

Bang on.
Descent 2:Let`s give it another go!
Neil Marshall knows that the only way Sarah will ever find her self back at the cave is if:
a)She has been lobotomiced to calm her down, but the survergy has left her almost brain dead,so she is can`t help the rescue team even after all the hard work of carrying her to the cave, but man is she calm.
b)She has been sedated to calm her down, but the drugs are so strong that they prevent her from comunicating with the outside world,if the drungs wear off she will be hysterical knowing where they are taking her,and they are forced to sedate her again.Ergo she can`t ever help the rescue team.
c)She is dead, and the rescue team use her body as bait to lure the crawlers to the cave opening,in an atempt of killing off every one of those sorry creatures. Then they go down the cave without any danger.
d)The rescue team are actually the half bread of the crawlers ,in an atempt of minimizing the risk of crawler expociur to the outside world, they take pasients from the hospital as food to the crawlers. They no longer have to hunt in the open, ahh how nice of them.Sarah is sedated the whole way from the hospital to the time she dies being late night snack for the crawlers.
Any other good ideas folks?
Sorry guys my mistake,I sent in the old first draft with many spelling flaws.Typed in a hurry.
I think the “sedation” idea is really the best. The only problem if she’s so sedated that she can’t communicate, then what good is she to the would-be-rescuers? Why would you take an incapacitated person into an uncharted underground cave system, that you *know* has killed experienced climbers.
This is stupid. There is just no way around it.
They should have done a straight up redo with new girls and then blow our minds when they re-introduce the chick who we thought had been killed in part 1, but is now breeding with the creatures to produce a new race of creatures.
Still stupid, but less so.
AE.
The more I read about it the better it sounds. Sarah has ammnesia when she goes back into the cave.
I like the idea to use the chiks for breedig use
i hope it have a good ending and a dad ending showing the chiks pregnant by the creatures
i’ve seen a lot of horror movies in my time, a lot. and very rarely do i come across something that impresses me. The Descent did just that. absolutely brutal. i had no idea i was claustraphobic….until i watched this movie. it touched a raw nerve i didnt even know i had. and thats what watching movies is all about, every once in a great while you will find a gem. as hard as it is for me to say this, i was almost dissappointed when the crawlers first appeared. i was just like,” this movie is creeping the hell out of me already, why would you ruin it with monsters?” but within 5 minutes, i was thinking to myself,” oh yeah….this is great!” bloody, gory, creepy goodness.
if the sequel is even half as good, i’ll be happy to put down my $10 bucks for it.
