Variety says Morgan Freeman is currently in negotiations to join Bruce Willis on the live-action version of Warren Ellis’ limited series comic book “Red”. No word on what role the former “Shawshank Redemption” and “Wanted” star will play, but the plot has Willis playing a former CIA black ops spy who is living a quiet retirement when high-tech assassins show up to do him in. Now the old school spy has to fight these new school kids using all the means at his disposal.
Summit Entertainment is producing the movie, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian producing, and Gregory Noveck executive producing. The original comics were written by the prolific Warren Ellis and drawn by Cully Hamner, and was published from 2003 and 2004 by WildStorm/DC Comic and consisted of three issues.
