New Line has picked “Arlington Road” and “The Mothman Prophecies” director Mark Pellington to remake the Guillermo del Toro produced super spooky “The Orphanage” in English for us English speaking types.

In the original, a woman returns to an orphanage where she was raised as a child to open a school for disabled children. After her arrival to the worlds spookiest building, her son begins to be terrorized by an entity that Mom was also spooked by when she was a child. Great place to return to. Thanks Mom. The original was in Spanish and was really good, subtitles and all. Larry Fessenden and del Toro wrote the script. Here’s a clip. Thanks Variety.

Del Toro’s was so great, and so recent…
Do we really need a remake? Same with Let the Right One In and Oldboy. Write an original script Hollywood!!
