Movie Blog Was Wrong, Vin Diesel Hasn’t Left xXx 3, World Implodes

So late last week a movie site posted “exclusive news” from a “trusted source” that said Vin Diesel had bailed on the “xXx” sequel, “The Return of Xander Cage”, and speculated that the reason could be Rob Cohen leaving the project to direct his movie “Medieval”. We didn’t post that news, mostly because, well, I didn’t buy it. Vin Diesel knows that returning to the “xXx” franchise will result in some major bucks at the box office, and get his career right back there in the A-list stratosphere (and give him two major hits in a roll, along with the recent “Fast & Furious”), so why would he walk away just because Rob Cohen wasn’t directing it? Made no sense to me, so I didn’t post it.

According to MTV, there’s a reason the news didn’t make sense: probably because it’s untrue.

The word comes from Diesel’s publicist, who checked out the rumor and confirmed it to be false. As he said in his e-mail to MTV News, “I made a few calls on this and I can tell you that it is completely not true.” So there you have it.

Let’s face it, a “xXx” sequel has all it needs: Vin Diesel. It doesn’t really matter who directs this thing, as long as he’s competent and isn’t a total moron, this thing is going to make serious bank at the box office. Look for it in 2011, with Diesel back.

I'm Vin Diesel, and I approve this post.
