God, I love genre films. And I really, really love movies like “The Outpost”. The premise alone ensures I’ll watch this thing when the DVD finally lands at my local Blockbusters. You throw a bunch of people into a haunted locale, and see who lives and dies, and it’s good times had by all. You make sure those people are mercenaries, or capable blokes, and you can double the good times. It’s always more fun to watch big guys with guns get killed than spammy kids. The latest entry in the genre is the British film “Outpost”, which just happens to star Ray Stevenson, aka the new Punisher.
Set in war-torn Eastern Europe, a band of battle-worn mercenaries undertake a dangerous mission into a no-man’s land at the behest of a mysterious businessman. When they locate and secure a disused military bunker, they also discover a terrifying secret that has laid buried for half a century–and which they’ll have to fight to survive.
Starring Ray Stevenson, Julian Wadham, Richard Brake, Paul Blair, Brett Fancy, Enoch Frost, and directed by Steve Barker.
