I remember reading the “Death of Superman” comic book storyline in the ’90s. I was in my heyday of comic book collecting back then. I actually had a real job, and could afford comics. Which I took full advantage of, building up quite the collection, if I do say so myself. The whole “Death of Superman” thing was obviously a gimmick, since no one was going to REALLY kill off Superman for good, and in comic books, “dying” is as common as, well, guys in tights. But D.C. did it so perfectly, that they deserved to sell a million of those books, which, I think, they probably did. The animated movie “Superman/Doomsday” is based on that storyline, and promises to be pretty badass. Check out the trailer and poster for “Superman/Doomsday” below.
When Lexcorp accidentally unearths the intergalactic serial killer Doomsday, Superman battles the creature head on in the fight of his life…literally. The world collectively mourns their fallen hero; humanity realizes it will never feel truly safe again. Superman’s enemies rejoice — all but Lex Luthor, who grieves the loss in his own demented manner, setting off a chilling chain of events that even he couldn’t have foreseen. Inspired by the bestselling graphic novel of all time, DC Comics’ The Death of Superman, this feature-length animated movie boasts exciting action sequences that rivals anything you’ve ever seen starring the Man of Steel!
Superman and Doomsday duke it out 9.18.07.
