I have to admit, when Joss Whedon and company premiered their little musical web show “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”, I didn’t get onboard immediately. Nothing personal, but I’m just not a very big fan of Whedon. Mind you, not that I dislike the guy or his products or anything, I’ve just never been a fan is all I’m saying, so of course not everything he does registers with me like it does with legion of enthusiastic followers. But I did eventually sat down to watch “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” (thanks, Hulu!) and realized that I loved it. Great stuff. So, a sequel, then?

Most definitely, according to Nathan Fillion, who plays the douchebaggy Captain Hammer on the web series. He tells MTV:

“There are plans. The media for the sequel has not yet been decided, but there is a title… Joss, I was talking to him right before we won the Emmy. He said that he’s finished writing a song or two. He told me a couple of verses to the song… It’s going to be great. I know a bunch of cast members of Dr. Horrible who would love to get back into it.”

The web series proved very popular, even with non-Whedon fans, and the series went on to nab itself an Emmy, not to mention parlaying the popularity into brisk DVD sales. Also, pay attention to what Fillion said when he said “the media” has yet to be chosen. I believe he’s referring to the possibility that the sequel could be another web series, straight-to-DVD, or perhaps even a movie version. Anything’s possible when it comes to Whedon.

Both Fillion and Neil Patrick Harris have their own shows, and Whedon’s busy with a gazillion projects at the moment, so everyone will probably need to carve out some time to do the sequel. Of course it goes without saying that if they really want to get it done, they can get it done.

Here’s the full “Dr. Horrible” show (42-minutes long) in one sitting in case you’ve never see it:
