If there’s one thing this world is sorely lacking, it’s war movies populated with puppets. Directors Edward and Rory McHenry attempt to rectify this glaring cinematic problem with “Jackboots on Whitehall”, a World War II fantasy flick which finds a group of ordinary freedom-fighting farmers battling an evil Nazi battalion that’s attempting to invade London by drilling under the English Channel. The entire action-packed adventure is packed to the rafters with state-of-the-art puppetry, and is voiced by the likes of Ewan McGregor, Tom Wilkinson, Alan Cumming, Richard E. Grant, and Timothy Spall. Those lucky sons of guns who are attending the Edinburgh International Film Festival this year should definitely consider show up for film’s debut, especially if the feature is as entertaining as the trailer embedded below.
