Zombies are bad enough, but when you make them Nazis to boot, they have to be twice as bad, right? Or at least, twice as Third Reich-y. Then you add a bunch of clueless horny friends that stumble across an old burial ground for said Nazis, and that’s usually a recipe for “Evil Dead”-ish good times. That’s the premise of the Norwegian horror/comedy “Dead Snow”, a film by Tommy Wirkola, whose last movie was “Kill Buljo: The Movie”, a parody of Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill”. What, you haven’t seen it? Shame on you! Anyways, here’s a quick look at “Dead Snow”. Let’s just hope there’s enough horror elements here to justify watching this thing, otherwise this might just be another entry in a genre that is quickly wearing out its welcome post-“Shaun of the Dead”.
A group of eight friends drives to a cabin in northern Norway where German troops where slaughtered by angry locals living there in 1945. Now the undead zombie Nazi soldiers feast on whoever comes there way.
The film recently opened in Norway, and is making the festival circuit in the States as we speak. Chances are you’ll be able to catch it on DVD later this year.
