I have a soft spot for James Cameron’s 1997 blockbuster “Titanic” for, um, various reasons that shall go undiscussed here. In short, if you couldn’t get laid after “Titanic” came out, let’s face it, you’re never going to get laid. EVER. Anyways, it was also the film that, once and for all, made people believe James Cameron could turn a shopping list into a blockbuster. (I was already convinced after “Terminator”, “Aliens”, and “Terminator 2”, by the by.) Imagine a movie where just about everyone knew how it’s already going to end, and yet, he got people to go see it over and over and over again anyway. Now that’s talent. Or voodoo. Well, it was something. Cameron and Paramount are now re-releasing “Titanic” back into theaters worldwide on April 6, 2012 in 3D and IMAX 3D. Check out the poster and trailer for the re-release below.
Said Cameron, “There’s a whole generation that’s never seen ‘TITANIC’ as it was meant to be seen, on the big screen. And this will be ‘TITANIC’ as you’ve never seen it before, digitally re-mastered at 4K and painstakingly converted to 3D. With the emotional power intact and the images more powerful than ever, this will be an epic experience for fans and newcomers alike.”
Do you really need me to rehash the plot for you? Okay, here it goes. Big boat. Girl. Boy. Nude painting. Iceberg. Jump! Got it?
Anyways, it’s been 11 years since “Titanic”, and Leonardo DiCaprio has since gone on to become a big-time movie actor, and Kate Winslet, well, she’s still working, too. As for Billy Zane? I hear he’s doing work in Europe or thereaways. Hey, work’s work, right?
