Neil Marshall to Make People Burst Into Little Chunks. Again. But this Time in 3D!

Burst 3D Movie, Horror Movie News — By Nix on October 9, 2009

Another day, another horror movie to be shot in 3D is announced. No surprise there. But wait, there’s a catch this time: the director will actually be someone whose work I’ve followed — Neil Marshall. That’s right, kids, Bloody-Disgusting reports that the man behind such splatterific fare as “The Descent”, “Doomsday”, and “Dog Soldiers” has signed on to direct a movie called “Burst” for Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures. “Burst” is a film that involves people bursting. Hence the title. In 3D!

The film, based on a script by Gary Dauberman, will follow a young woman running from her troubles, who finds herself stranded at a lodge with a group of strangers. One after another, they inexplicably begin to burst into pieces (wow, how appropriate given the title!). Shock quickly descends into paranoia as nobody knows who to trust. And as the mystery unravels, the survivors realize that what’s causing this unstoppable phenomenon is bigger and more disturbing than anyone could have ever imagined.

Rob Tapert will produce for Ghost House Pictures, while Sam Raimi will produce in spirit, which means he probably doesn’t even know the movie is being made, but that probably won’t stop the marketing guys from slapping his name on the poster when the movie arrives in theaters. The film will be distributed through Lionsgate.

Marshall is currently shooting his Roman legionnaire movie “Centurion”, and he’s a producer on a sequel to his horror hit “The Descent”. This will be Marshall’s first movie where he isn’t also the writer.

Hey look, it's Rhona Mitra, star of Neil Marshall's Doomsday!
