Neil Marshall’s The Descent Gets a Sequel?

Neil Marshall scared the crap out of audiences with “The Descent” (read our very positive review of the movie here), a claustrophobic tale about a group of women who goes splunking, only to run across cannibalistic monsters living in the dark. Don’t you hate it when that happens? Now there is news that the horror movie will get a sequel, to be called “The De2cent”. Yes, that’s the proposed title. Now I don’t know if having “2″ in the title makes all that much sense (I’m guessing people will be struggling to recognize the title), but it sure looks “smokin’”, as the kids would say (or not).
Here’s another synopsis of the original “Descent”:
The sportswoman Sarah loses her husband and daughter in a car crash, but she survives. One year later, her friends Beth, Rebecca, Sam and Holly, leaded by Juno, invite her to explore a deep cave in the mountains. When the expedition is about three kilometers underground, a rock collapses and blocks the access tunnel, trapping the group inside the cave. With limited supplies, they try to find a way out, but sooner they face a hunger and savage breed of predators.
Basically, girls go into cave, bad shit happens.
I’m guessing the “bad shit happens” part will continue in the sequel. And yes, they will make a sequel. Can you really see a reason why they WON’T?
I wonder if Neil Marshall is involved, though…
