Ashley Bell returns in “The Last Exorcism Part 2”, thus proving that the last exorcism wasn’t, uh, the last one after all. This time around, though, Bell’s character is captured on tape in a more traditional form. I.e. the filmmakers have discarded the whole Found Footage angle for a straight-up narrative. Which I suppose we should all be thankful for. I mean, it would have been pretty hard to keep justifying it, right? Then again, since when has that stopped these Found Footage movies?
Anyways, take a gander at what ol Nell has been up to since the last movie. Hint: nothing good.
Continuing where the first film left off, Nell Sweetzer (Ashley Bell) is found terrified and alone in rural Louisiana. Back in the relative safety of New Orleans, Nell realizes that she can’t remember entire portions of the previous months only that she is the last surviving member of her family. Just as Nell begins the difficult process of starting a new life, the evil force that once possessed her is back with other, unimaginably horrific plans that mean her last exorcism was just the beginning.
Also starring Spencer Treat Clark, Andrew Sensenig, Judd Lormand, Julia Garner, Muse Watson, E. Roger Mitchell, and Raeden Greer.
Ed Gass-Donnelly takes over directing chores for part 2, due in theaters March 1st, 2013. Here’s a guess: the bitchy girl in the trailer isn’t going to survive.
