Neve Campbell Turns Down New Scream Trilogy?

Yes, according to the guys at Bloody-Disgusting, who quotes a tweet by Kevin Williamson via his Twitter account that Campbell has passed on the project. Though curiously, the tweet that BD refers to is no longer available at Williamson’s list of tweets, which either means he’s deleted it or BD dreamt it up in the first place. I’m gonna back my fellow movie blogger brotha here and go with the former. Wondered why Williamson deleted the tweet, though? If she passed, then she passed. Or did the studio tell him to chill while they try to convince her i.e. hike up the cha-ching?

Here’s the original Williamson tweet per BD:

Trying to figure out a Sid-less scenario. She won’t do it. This sucks.

Apparently Williamson really was writing the new “Scream” trilogy with Campbell’s Sidney character in mind. On June 9th he tweeted this:

Come on Sid! Say yes! Please!!!!!! I’m begging!!!!!

Although if Campbell has indeed passed, and this isn’t just an attempt to hike up her salary, then you gotta admire the girl for wanting to leave behind her “scream queen” days. She hasn’t exactly been doing A-list stuff lately, but there’s something to be said about being true to yourself. Then again, I woulda done it, being that I’m a money whore and all.

Propably it’s true. I found a reply from the horrorfilmmag@twitter which says to Kevin

@kevwilliamson Forget Sid. Seriously. Explain her death away in a polaroid, FD2 style. Roger Jackson is who we really care about ;)
