Gotta admit, Byran Fuller’s “Hannibal” is easily one of the most anticipated TV shows of the year. It’s got a hell of a pedigree in literature and the movies, and who isn’t fascinated to see how Fuller approaches the subject matter? It’s about an FBI agent with awesome serial killer profiling skills being partnered up with a man who turns out to be one of the biggest serial killers of them all.
Now that’s a killer premise.
Fuller has said the show’s “serial killer case of the week” procedural will only last for two seasons, with Hannibal going into the wind soon after. If he sticks to this, that would break the monotony of that whole “will Graham find out about Hannibal” gimmick week after week, one of the problems I was anticipating with a show like this.
The show stars Hugh Dancy as the feeb, Mads Mikkelsen making a rare appearance on TV as Hannibal, and Laurence Fishburne as Dancy’s FBI boss. It also stars Caroline Dhavernas, Lara Jean Chorostecki, Aaron Abrams, Hettienne Park, and Scott Thompson. Gillian Anderson of “X-Files” fame also has a recurring role as Hannibal’s psychiatrist, though she hasn’t appeared in any of the promos that I’ve seen so far.
Look for it on NBC this April 4th.
