I am assuming, of course, that the whole reddish tint used for the tidal wave in the background of this poster is supposed to represent the bloody combat that’s about to occur in Noam Murro’s “300: Rise of an Empire”, which is getting its first teaser trailer tomorrow. From the looks of the first images for the movie, I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to say that the sequel will look a heck of a lot like the Zack Snyder original. It’s a smart move. Don’t fix what ain’t broke, as the saying goes.
Until then, get a load of Sullivan Stapleton looking like he’s either ready to kick Persian ass or ready to go write a book. Or perhaps write a book about kicking Persian ass.
Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel “Xerxes” and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster “300,” this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield—on the sea—as Greek general Themistokles attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war. “300: Rise of an Empire” pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes, and Artemesia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.
Starring Eva Green, Rodrigo Santoro, Jack O’Connell, Sullivan Stapleton, Lena Headey, Andrew Tiernan, Callan Mulvey, Andrew Pleavin, and Yigal Naor.
The tidal wave of combat begins next year March 7, 2014.
