New Batch of Hellboy 2: Golden Army Images

By Nix | April 2, 2008 (9:25 pm)

To be honest with you, I was surprised that the studio greenlighted Del Toro’s “Hellboy 2: The Golden Army”. As I remembered it, the original wasn’t exactly a beast at the box office, but I guess it must have done gangbusters on DVD, because from everything I’ve seen, the sequel seems to follow the standard rule of Hollywood blockbusters: bigger, louder, and more expensive. Let’s hope, shall we? Via Yahoo! Movies, comes enough “Hellboy 2: The Golden Army” images to choke a horse. Or at least, a really, really bit rat.

After an ancient truce existing between humankind and the invisible realm of the fantastic is broken, hell on Earth is ready to erupt. A ruthless leader who treads the world above and the one below defies his bloodline and awakens an unstoppable army of creatures. Now, it’s up to the planet’s toughest, roughest superhero to battle the merciless dictator and his marauders. He may be red. He may be horned. He may be misunderstood. But when you need the job done right, it’s time to call in Hellboy.

Starring Ron Perlman, Selma Blair, David Hyde Pierce, Jeffrey Tambor, Doug Jones, and directed by Guillermo del Toro.

Call me crazy but this is the movie I’m looking forward to instead of Batman. The first one had a kind of straight ahead, old fashioned charm that I really dug. It was’nt ironic and it wasn’t super bleak it was just an unapologetic monster movie.
