“The Expendables” franchise won’t be complete until they convince Steven Seagal to show up. Then again, that might require Seagal actually, you know, work out and get back into his ’80s heyday shape like everyone else in the cast, and perhaps that’s too much to ask of the Rotund Sensei these days, especially since he seems incredibly content to star in one generic, crappy direct-to-DVD action movie after another. Mr. Church reunites the Expendables for what should be an easy paycheck, but when one of their men is murdered on the job, their quest for revenge puts them deep in enemy territory and up against an unexpected threat.
The cast of muscle flexing badasses include Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Nan Yu, Liam Hemsworth, and Scott Adkins.
Simon West directs the explosion-a-thon, arriving in theaters August 17, 2012.
