New Gangster Squad Trailer is the Same as Old Gangster Squad Trailer, But Shorter

If you thought that the first trailer the studio released for Ruben Fleischer’s period-set crime flick “Gangster Squad” back in May was a bit too long and your ADD-addled brain just couldn’t handle its two and a half minutes of runtime, then good news, the studio has released a new, shorter, and slightly re-arranged trailer. It’s basically the same trailer, except, you know, a minute shorter, and minus some cool scenes that were shown in the longer trailer. I guess this qualifies as “new”. Or something. But hey, far be it from me to skip out on posting another video where Emma Stone plays a gangster’s moll.

Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and–if he has his way–every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop…except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart. “Gangster Squad” is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.

The flick stars Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Sean Penn, Giovanni Ribisi, Josh Brolin, Nick Nolte, Michael Peña, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Mireille Enos, Robert Patrick, and Josh Pence.

The bullets fly September 7th, 2012.
