New Green Hornet Trailer Shows off the Awesomeness of Kato

I know what you’re thinking: “Why do I want to see a movie about Seth Rogen fighting crime? Seth Rogen sucks!” Well okay, maybe that’s true, but you know what doesn’t suck? Watching Jay Chou as Kato fighting crime. Or, more specifically, just kicking pretty much everyone’s ass in Michel Gondry’s “The Green Hornet”. Take a gander at the new trailer for “Green Hornet” below and tell me you’re not impressed with Kato’s awesomeness. He ain’t no Bruce Lee, but he sure looks like a pretty damn good replacement.

Britt Reid (Seth Rogen), son and heir to Los Angeles’ largest newspaper fortune, is a rich, spoiled playboy who has been happy to maintain a direction-less existence. When his father James Reid (Tom Wilkinson) dies, Britt meets an impressive and resourceful company employee, Kato (Jay Chou). They realize that they have the resources to do something worthwhile with their lives and finally step out of James Reid’s shadow. Kato builds the ultimate weapon, The Black Beauty, an indestructible car with every weapon imaginable and Britt decides that in order to be heroes, they will pose as villains. With the help of Britt’s new secretary, Lenore Case (Cameron Diaz), they learn that the chief criminal in the city is named Benjamin Chudnofsky (Christoph Waltz). He has united all the gangs under his power, and he quickly sees that the Green Hornet is a direct threat to the prosperous criminal underworld he controls.

Starring Christoph Waltz, Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz, Edward Furlong, Edward James Olmos, Tom Wilkinson, Jay Chou, Chad Colema, Sterling Cooper, Analeigh Tipton, David Harbour, Eddie Rouse and directed by Michel Gondry.

Not sure what you mean with “Awesomeness of Kato”. I just saw a few phychedelic images of Kato throwing a punch and a kick but that’s it. No long ass-kicking punches nor more elaborated fighing choreagraphy.

The movie itself looks a little better though. Not a serious Crime Fighter movie but more like a comedical one.

Looks better, but I’m not liking the red sweater under the jacket for Kato. I’m glad he’s not dressed like that throughout. Also hope we get to see some nice extended fight sequences from Jay Chou, cause the boy has moves. Watch him as the God of Wushu in “True Legend.”

Ok,what an imbalance of character arcs. If Kato is the martial arts master, then The Green Hornet should have been the master of gadgets. What would Kato need “Seth” for then, besides the idea of becoming vigilantes?

    • Dan

Why would Kato need the Green Hornet? Well to finance all the gadgets!!
