New Green Lantern Theatrical Trailer Reveals More Epic Goodness

Stick with this new theatrical trailer for “Green Lantern”. Yes, the first half is almost entirely stuff you’ve already seen before countless times, but after a minute into it, it starts throwing a ton of new footage at you, including Hal Jordan getting his taste of some Lantern training, Michael Clarke Duncan voicing Kilowog, your first look at the Guardians, and all manner of other Intergalactic goodness.

In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan. Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

Starring Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Temuera Morrison, Jenna Craig, Jon Tenney, Tim Robbins, Angela Bassett, Taika Cohen, Jeff Wolfe, Michael Clarke Duncan and directed by Martin Campbell.

Saving the world June 17, 2011.

Cool Stories From Zergnet

Now THIS is what I’m talking about!! That was truly the feel I’ve wanted since the firt teaser. i think that trailer was made to get the younger viewers interested, but it truly looks like DC’s Iron Man. it has action, comedy, heart, and substance, and its a FREAKING SPACE ADVENTURE!!! Jeffery Rush, and Michael Clarke Duncan voices both fit Tomar-Re and Kilowog perfectly, and Mark Strong just owns Sinestro. Speaking of Sinestro, the peak at the Sinestro Corps symbol was great, and I love the “Swords, how human” line. This movie finally got the trailer it deserves.

  • Lexavi80

On the 15th second you can see it… THE SINESTRO CORPS LOGO!!!!!!.

  • Lexavi80

Ok, I dig the Sinestro Coprs logo, but (and is incredible that at this point still happens), I still don’t feel the hype. man, I hope I’m wrong.

The guardians look so fake. Looks like puppets.

I L-O-V-E how Michael Clarke Duncan’s voice fit on Kilowog!!!!!. Jeffery Rush’s voice also make a cool fit on Tomar-Re, but honestly I never thought on how Tomar-Re would sound.

I haven’t realize before, but Hector Hammond… well, the little I’ve seen of him so far, well, is a lay down. I don’t buy him as a villain.

Now that I’ve checked for the second time I gotta admit that there’s cool stuff now. I’m glad. Gives me hope.

Much better, but that image of Ryan with the mask on makes me realise that not only are his eyes very close together but he has a huge forehead lol. The Guardians LMAO!!.

I like Green Lantern, I mean I read the Blackest Night series in order and i’m planning to do the same with Brightest Day, but the CGI is still killing me in a lot of places, I hope the extra bit of money they got helps.

    • Brittdasheet

I’m sorry but not a fan of the sinus-looking mask and seeing the iris of the eyes. Just looks off.

      • http://twitter.com/blk_flash Blk Flash

Yeah I know the eyes are terrible.

        • http://www.originalgeekspodcast.com/ Dedpool

Good lord people. Haters just gonna hate LoL. First it was the casting, then the cg, then kilowog’s look (but everyone seems to love Tomar-Re’s look), then the cg suit (yeah even I had aproblem with the feet in the promo pics but still) and now its the eyes. No issues with the hair? LoL I’m kidding mostly but man us Fanboys sure can find stuff to bitch about.

I wouldn’t say I hate the movie. I’m going to see this baby on the theater, BUT…

This production started with the left foot by releasing lame photos of the main character looking like he looks in every film. Also by releasing footage that wasn’t ready to be launched, and besides that, although this trailer looks cooler than any other thing they’ve release so far, there’s still a lot of things that looks bad.

Add what I said above the fact that this one DC movie have HEAVY competition in Thor, Captain America (which btw looked AWESOME since day 1), X-Men: First Class….

            Looks bad isn’t it?

          • http://www.originalgeekspodcast.com/ Dedpool

Oh I know. I was just messin with people. I know no matter how excited I am for it not everyone will feel the same. But as much as I want to see Thor and Cap, and even First Class, I’ve been waiting on a GL flick for longer, and until I see it and it sucks I can’t help but hype it.

To be fair in all honesty Dedpool, the mask is MAJOR because every time you see GL’s face you will see that mask. I can however live with the feet not looking too great cuz their not a focal point but that mask . . . . Oh boy. It’s shaped wrong, it should have come to a peak or point at the tip of nose not be bulbous shaped and IT LOOKS LIKE IT’S MADE OF FLUBBER. Is GL covered in flubber from the movie “Flubber”? They’re almost there, just need to fix that mask.

I know the mask is wrong, I’m with you on that, I was commenting on them saying the eyes were too close/ or too far lol. And thank you so much for putting that visual in my head. Its all I’ll think about when I go see it. LoL

Still not on board. There were some cool parts like the training of Hal by Kilowog and Sinestro. The voices of Jeoffrey Rush and Michael Clarke Duncan added to both Tomar-Re and Kilowog were on point. I also thought that Blake lively’s lines were decent and believable.
However, the few brief scenes of the Guardians were bad. The dirt-cloud thing that I can only imagine was Parallax was bad. I also have a problem with Hector Hammond. I think that Peter Sarsgaard is an excellent actor and I really think that if they strayed away from the classic, long ,wavey, haired adaptation of the character they could have made him a lot cooler. As for the inclusion of the Sinestro (Yellow) Corps. insignia, it was cool but too much of a giveaway to the fans. I want there to be allusions in these films not full on optic assaults of “Look at this!” I suppose we’lll just have to wait and see.

You know Juggernaut, your right. I also think the Sinestro Corps Logo on the trailer is a major spoiler. A desperate attempt of bring fans excited. On my side, I got excited but a what cost. Maybe that was the movie’s closure or big revelation, but now is ruined.

Let’s see how it goes. I hope it works. In the meantime I already saw Thor twice, and maaaybe I’ll go for thirds this weekend. Is damn good!.

    • ULIK

Thor is just two days away here in the states but I’m still jealous of you seeing it first. ;(

      • Lexavi80

Haha, I know!. But damn, you’ll have the rest of the movies for yourself first. Cheers for that!

    • Juggernaut

I really hope that the Sinestro corps insignia doesn’t ruin anything. I equate it to Ironman since there are so many comparisons to the two already. In ironman I had already known that Obadiah Stane would at some point become a villain but I had no idea when or why. The only reason that I even knew that was because I was a fan of the comics. I saw Ironman opening night in the theaters and she was blown away at the reveal of Stane as the Iron Monger. The same should be done with Sinestro’s character. Keep his inevitable change as much a surprise as possible for the non-comic knowledgable.
I’m glad that so many of the posts that I’ve read on Thor are positive. I’ll be going tomorrow morning. I can’t wait!

      • http://www.originalgeekspodcast.com/ Dedpool

The insignia didn’t bother me that much. It may be the Sinestro Corps Insignia, but its Parallax’s symbol and I havge a feeling when we see it its coming from where ever in space he was coming from. Its not really saying much about what happens to Sinestro for non fans really.

I hope this movie bombs so Ryan moves on to making a Deadpool movie.

    • Juggernaut

I see what your saying and half agree. What I really want is for there to be some kind of time travel that allows Reynolds to turn down the GL role when he was first offered it and proceed with the Deadpool project. I was looking in a new comic preview guide the other day and saw an illustration of Hal Jordan that was a dead ringer for Nathan Fillion. It really sealed that idea in my mind. Another post that I read the other day said something about how some actors were just meant to play comic characters (Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Wesley Snipes as Blade, etc.)
I believe that in that category Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Nathan Fillion as Hal Jordan belong in there.
Alas, what’s done is done. We can only hope that Reynolds decides to do the Deadpool movie one day and that GL is a hit that WB/DC desperately need.
